Francis and Eileen McMahon founded McMahon's Brownstone Ale House in October, 1995.  Belfast-born Francis played professional soccer for Distillery in Belfast and Waterford and played for top team Coventry and also Lincoln and Darlington in England before arriving in America in 1991 and worked as a soccer coach and part-time bartender.

He met his wife Eileen (an Irish American from the Bronx) at the Red Lion in The Village in early 1994, fittingly at a Luka Bloom performance.  Together they have made McMahon's one of the friendliest Irish Bars in Hoboken.
